When NTR Teams up with director like 'Harish Shankar' and producer like ' Dil Raju' expectations are set to be very high. This movie is all set to hit the magical million dollar mark depending on how the family audience embrace the movie considering excessive violence. The youth and students will love the movie. This could be the second million dollar movie for NTR this year and he is the first hero from Tollywood to register back to back million dollar collections in US.

Harish Shankar did good job as a director and delivers a really good movie after Gabbar Singh. The way he shapes up all his characters is admirable. All the three leads Jr.NTR, Samantha and Shruti Hassan have given exceptional performances in the movie. Jr.NTR is seen in many shades and carries all of them with great expertise and with ease. His dances were, as always, the highlight of the movie. The music and background score is good. The first half is good with some good humour and it ended up a good bang. The second half goes a bit wayward after the flashback sequences. There are high dose of sentiment violence and emotions which derail the movie flow. Content wise the movie is an average fare and you can watch it for NTR for his Energetic and stylish performance, the big reason than anything in the movie.

'Ramayya Vasthavayya' is a stylish mass entertainer that showcases all of NTR’s abilities very well. The superb first half is a big asset. A predictable and below par second half is a slight let down. However, the film should work well at the Box Office and NTR’s fans will be a delighted lot.

NTR looks very stylish and smart enough. He has tried a new mannerism in the movie compared to his previous works. Of course, there is no need to mention about his dance. it is good but it seems somewhere he lost his grace. Director gave a kick start introduction to NTR by giving him Sr. NTR’s ‘Emantivi Emantivi’ dialogue. And the result is, a hall full of whistles and claps. Director made it with complete commercial elements which really can grab mass audience easily.

Director Harish Shankar has showed NTR in the best look till date and fans are sure to enjoy the Young Tiger’s fit look, stylishness, romantic angle, dances and action. NTR’s intro scenes and Duruodana getup are a treat. The first half of the film is racy with the right mix of action and entertaining scenes of NTR, Samantha, Rohini Hattangadi. Interval bang is quite promising raising the expectations.

The film’s first half of the film is racy with Ntr and Samantha’s hilarious scenes with promising pre climax scene. Later half of the film contains an emotional and action quotient with heavy dose with loud background score. The director should take all cares in the script to handle a hero and his role. This film can make you think what is the lacking in the content.

The entertainment factor is where the film falls short. The one-liners are all there but they fall well short of being truly funny. Rohini Hattangade evokes a few laughs playing an unmarried granny who's looking for her knight in shining armor. Kota Srinivasa Rao light up the screen with his effervescence playing a sharp witted politician.

The story has all commercial elements. Besides to these commercially viable elements, twists are the main strength. Though story is normal, twists make it interesting. First half runs in a jolly manner. Story runs with songs, fights, entertainment mixed in equal proportions. Twist before interval increases expectations about second half. However violence in the second half finds it hard to watch

Ramayya Vastavayya is a standard template driven film the likes of which have been made dime a dozen times in the past. The onus then was completely on director Harish Shankar to present this stale formula in a fresh manner. In the end one can say that the director has only partially succeeded in that endeavor.

The entire first half goes without any direction towards the story and the typical songs, fights, some comedy, romancing follows one after the other mechanically. Even the music part is not gripping to keep the audience glue to seats. Except the songs ‘Neneppudaina’ and ‘Jabilli..’, others became cigarette songs. The final song ‘Idi Ranarangam…’ smelled rotten with out-dated idea. How can the director imagine a song in such a situation? The second half is completely action filled. Though there a couple of sparks on a whole, it ended up as an obsolete treat with cliched climax.

The film has come in with a lot of hype and due to the NTR factor the anticipation was high. But then it must be said that the film didn’t have that kind of power or adrenalin to hook the audience. The first half was completely stale and there was not much to relish. The second half has good moments and the action episodes were good. But overall, the film failed to generate that kind of emotion or intensity. At the box office, the openings will be heavy but it may not be a huge success.

In telling an outdated and damn predictable story, Harish Shankar S committed one blunder after another. His only trump card was a romantic NTR, who is seen imitating Dev Anand here and Victory Venkatesh there. That is, when the situation doesn't warrant him breaking into a Gabbar Singh-kinda dance as his dost successfully steals Samantha's diary, or indulging in a panegyric on his own history of record-breaking (apparently, he broke all the extant records when he was wearing kickers and also holds the world record of massacring with designer swords, courtesy Rajmaouli, Vinayak and Boyapati)

The basic flaw of this movie lies in story and scripting. Where these two sections are completely hollow, Harish should have concentrated on adding some sparks with his dialogues and a little of special episodes. Such thing never happened as his attempt to sketch a good romantic track between NTR-Samanta using Rohini Hattangadi and legendary NTR has much more sunken. Then it is again a 1980-90’s model of drive leading to interval. Basically, Harish seems to have lost his intelligence and sophistication in elevating the heroism. As per my knowledge, only the first encounter between NTR-Ravi Shankar stood out as best in the movie. Rest is predictable and botched.

Except for NTR's characterization and youthful style in the first hour, Ramayya Vastavayya offers nothing new. It is a very routine subject which has been made many times in Telugu till now. Recent hit Racha has a similar storyline. Most of the scenes in this movie resemble that film. First half of the film is mildly entertaining and races ahead at a smooth pace. Although there is nothing fascinating about the first half, NTR makes it special with his performance and style.

The whole movie rests on a small twist. NTR is not just a star but also a good actor. He can easily make a movie super hit even if story is normal. But that does not mean that a star can pull off any sort of story. Harish Shankar impressed in first half. But second half dulls a bit. For all those who say that Gabbar Singh was hit because of Pawan Kalyan and not because of Harish Shankar, this movie will add strength to their argument.

NTR is heart and soul for the film. He is at his usual best in dialogues, fights and dances. However, there is no scene to showcase his emotional side. Director failed to utilize his talent to fullest.'Gabbar Singh’ fame Harish Shankar failed miserably in selecting the story and direction department. Unfortunately, the screenplay made it awful to watch. Nowadays, it is screenplay that matters no matter it is a novel story or routine story. Harish Shankar did score some brownie points in dialogues department.

If the director wants to serve the same old wine in a fresh new bottle, not many will take the bait. Yes, if considered as another regular Tollywood entertainer, Ramayya Vasthavayya fits the bill. However, it remains to be seen how the audience will accept the same old recipe served over and over again. I am going with 2/5 for Ramayya Vasthavayya. Watch it only if you want to see NTR give it his best shot in a losing cause; holding together the loose ends.

    Ramayya vastavayya...Chudaddaya sastavayya
Harish shankar failed to get a new story , even failed to manage a routine mass masala movie.

First half is good in parts with some comedy. But 2nd half will test the patience of audience for sure. GADHA fight picturised well.

NTR was super handsome in his new look . He Did some nice dance moves. Songs are not placed well.
I wonder how dil raju was so careless about "KATHA" this time.

Heroines samantha and sruthi hassan added some glamour to the movie , they shared first and second halves respectively. Bonguru gonthu dubbing of sruthi was not apt to her character.

Gabbar singh mark of harish shankar is missing. Can watch it for NTR and few one liners of harish shankar in your free time.

Nandu (NTR) is a college going lad who lives life in his own terms. He falls flat for Akarsha (Samantha) and ropes her in to his love very soon. With her help, he enters her house. Questions like What is he going to do there? Why is he there in the first place? directs the story to Akarsha’s home town. And then comes a girl, Ammulu (Shruti Hassan) in to the scene. As the story unfolds, many people come in. Who are they? and what happens next forms the crux of the story.

    How did they perform?

Ramayya Vasthavayya is undoubtedly a one man show by NTR. The actor mesmerized all the fans and audience alike with his new look and styling. His acting skills and dialogue delivery are immaculate as always. Unlike his previous movies, he not restricted himself to floor movements in dances but bent his entire body this time. He excelled as Duryodhana in the introduction scene and the Emantivi Emantivi dialogue will give you goosebumps. The acting like Shami Kapoor scene is also excellent.

Samantha and Shruti Hassan looked gorgeous in the film. Both of them got one excellent song each – Jabilli Nuvve Cheppamma with Samantha and Nuvveppudaina with Shruti Hassan which will last long in their careers. However, their characters are overshadowed by NTR in the movie. Kota Srinivasa Rao as Minister, Ravi Shankar as Kota’s son, Mukesh Rishi as Samantha’s father, Rohini Hattangadi as grand mother, Rao Ramesh as CBI officer are best of their caliber.

    Technical Performances:

Harish Shankar is a fans’ director and he present his heroes according to the dreams of their fans. The same thing happened to NTR too. This is the best makeover by any hero in the recent times. However, he should have done some good work in the script department. He did not get the right combination of entertainment, sentiment and commercial elements in the movie. Second half particularly is low on Entertainment and the climax is also weak.

All the songs of Thaman are chart-busters and are well shot too. Chota K. Naidu’s camera work is excellent. Editing could have been crisp in the second half. Production Values are superb as for every Dil Raju movie.

    Final Say:

The first half is good with some good humour and it ended up a good bang. The second half goes a bit wayward after the flashback sequences. There are high dose of sentiment violence and emotions which derail the movie flow. Content wise the movie is an average fare and you can watch it for NTR for his Energetic and stylish performance, the big reason than anything in the movie.
